The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce organized the “Brazil - UAE: Economic Sustainability Forum in the Amazon Region”, in cooperation with the UAE Ministry of Economy, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the UAE, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Brazilian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Hamilton Mourão, the Brazilian Vice President, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, Mariam Almheiri, the UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Abdullah Mohammed Al Mazrui, the President of the Union of Arab Chambers and President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the UAE, Osmar Chohfi, the President of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, and Fernando Igreja, the Brazilian Ambassador to the UAE, in addition to the presence of senior officials from the UAE and Brazil.
Hamilton Mourão affirmed that "Brazil and the UAE continue to work to ensure a better life for future generations, and to strengthen the bilateral cooperation to achieve this endeavor, based on the strategic partnership that brings the two countries together," noting that "Brazil has proven to be a reliable partner in the food security path, even in the most difficult times during the global pandemic. Today, we are moving forward in creating a business environment that supports the growth of private sectors and achieve added value, in addition to providing more job opportunities and innovative solutions to foresee a better future in the Amazon region. Brazil also seeks to develop partnerships with the private sector, governments of friendly countries and investment funds to promote sustainable development in the Amazon region, and we believe that this forum is a qualitative step in this path.”
Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri emphasized the strength of the economic and trade ties between the UAE and Brazil, as cooperation relations include diverse vital sectors and priority within sustainable economic development plans, foremost of which are agriculture, food security, infrastructure, transportation, energy, renewable energy, innovation, artificial intelligence and space.”
He added, "Brazil is the largest economy in South America, and we are keen to work closely with our partners in the Brazilian government to achieve important leaps in the trade and investment partnership between the two countries in sectors of mutual interest."
In turn, Osmar Chohfi confirmed "the importance of holding the forum at this time to keep pace with the latest developments and global trends, and to provide a platform for the latest integration between sustainability and the economic goals of countries as it constitutes one of the main pillars for diversifying economic resources, and it is a primary priority for a number of Arab countries," noting that "the message of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce revolves around building and consolidating partnerships and alliances between Arab countries and Brazil. With the approach of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Chamber, we affirm our commitment to continue working to enhance the prospects for Arab-Brazilian cooperation, raise the level of bilateral partnerships and expand their scope to include more sustainable development initiatives. I am confident that our meeting today in this forum will pave the way for the development of our cooperation in the field of sustainability.”
